We want to implement BIM

first_post_bimdrone

Why are we discouraged when implementing BIM? Why do we abandon it thinking that it didn’t work out?

Problem: WE WANT TO IMPLEMENT BIM.

  1. Why do you want to implement BIM? Well, because BIMdrone does it successfully.
  2. Again, why do you need BIM technology? Because we often have trouble meeting the deadline.
  3. Why? Because the project is improved several times.
  4. Why? Because there are constant changes.
  5. Why? Because the Teams are disorganized and the chaos reigns.

Okay, so your main problem is actually a disorder within the teams. You really should start with this.

The above example shows that if we want to solve all the problems we face with BIM technology, it will not work. BIM will help, speed up, improve work, but at the beginning we need to pinpoint the source causing the current problems. If we want BIM technology to improve our work and bring measurable benefits, we must eliminate problems that disorganize our current actions.

Technology is moving forward, our task is to follow it consciously. What does it mean in a conscious way? It means using the wealth of technology in a frame that suits our needs. Using the technology that helps solve our problems that we struggle with during design or construction. We are aware that BIM is becoming more and more popular and sometimes we feel that it is imposed upon us despite the fact that it does not fully meet our needs. Therefore, we encourage you not to immediately use the whole available BIM technology, but at the beginning start with the elemental parts that will facilitate your daily work, will help minimize errors.

Based on the example above, we encourage you to answer the “why” question several times using the “5Why” methodology.

The “5Why” method involves asking “why?” in order to find the cause of the problem. By asking the question “why” several times, we will identify the source of the problem and will quickly find the right tool to solve it. Therefore, at the beginning of BIM implementation, we have to optimally approach our needs.

BIM in an interesting reveal/presentation. From a point cloud to a model with information.

What does our work look like? The following implementation is made by our BIM Specialist Piotr Wolny. The acquired point cloud based on a photogrammetric scan was used as a basis for the model in Revit. Prepared visualization in an interesting way shows the combination of drone, point cloud and BIM model. Thanks to aerial inventory, we are sure that the built model reflects the existing condition of the structure.
